Heritage
Born in Sweden to a Finnish mother and English father, Hanna Francis spent her early childhood in Sweden, before moving to the UK where she has resided ever since.
With a Furniture and Product design education from the Nottingham Trent University and a succession of awards behind her, Hanna Francs is attracting attention across the world of design.
Her design inspiration is drawn from her Finnish and English heritage, combining traditional techniques with contemporary design while using modern technology. The Hanna Francis brand features furniture and product designs that are inspired by nature - simple in form and structure.
Growth
Hanna’s designs have featured in interior design publications and recent coverage includes Elle Decoration, Home, Vogue, Ideal Home, Marie Claire, Design Week and Blue Print. In addition, Wood For Good magazine promoted her use of wood in design.
Hanna has won several awards including the ‘Future of Design’ award presented by DKNY for her VIILUJA occasional table in which followed a showcase in the flagship store on London’s Bond Street.
Under her own brand, Hanna has worked on projects and collaborations within the interior design industry. Recent projects have included several private homes for clients, a café in a Victorian conservatory, an interior ‘roof garden’ for a printing firm and many more.
Hanna is also a regular lecturer at the Nottingham Trent University on the Furniture and Product
Design courses.
The Future
Great care is taken in the design development process in order to achieve sustainable products. Hanna remains committed to the experimenting and testing of new ideas to develop the signature ranges further. She also looks forward to continuing with her bespoke commissions. The future is an exciting time!
